Need for new solutions
McKenzie Energy Partners, LLC was created out of a need for reliable water management solutions across the Williston Basin in North Dakota. The team brings experienced engineering to design produced water gathering systems and disposal solutions.
The design for the new Yogi saltwater disposal (SWD) facility originally called for fiberglass piping. That’s what they’ve always used in the past. However, with an emphasis on creating a leak-free, long-lasting system in mind, they wanted to try something new.
A Powerful Partnership
High-density polyethylene was an ideal material for the project. The saltwater won’t corrode the pipe and is less affected by the cold North Dakota winter weather. McKenzie Energy Partners worked with ISCO Industries to supply the pipe. However, time constraints made the standard method of heat fusion a less than ideal option. ISCO had a solution for that as well. Through a partnership with Victaulic, ISCO was able to provide fittings and fabricated pieces to keep up with the fast-paced project schedule.
ISCO sales rep Brad Gray was able to provide three to eight-inch HDPE. The pipe was shipped to Victaulic’s fabrication facility in Houston. From there, the team fabricated parts of the system using Victaulic fittings and shipped the pieces back to North Dakota. Once they arrived on site, the numbered pieces were all assembled simply like fitting together puzzle pieces.
With an HDPE system in place, the partnership will not have worry about corrosion or weather damage. HDPE does not become brittle at 32°F. The system maintains high fluid flow properties throughout its service life due to excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. Overall, the system delivers long term economy, value, and dependability.
Building the system with Victaulic fittings helps create a safe, efficient, and cost-effective solution. The fittings allow for compressed construction schedules, simplified maintenance, and the ability to be installed in confined spaces.
By capitalizing on the ISCO-Victaulic partnership, McKenzie Energy Partners will now be able to continue to provide reliable solutions for the Williston Basin for decades to come.
