Marcus Byrd Makes PGA TOUR Cut – On His Birthday

Marcus Byrd made headlines earning his second career PGA TOUR cut on his 28th birthday.

Louisville, KY (July 12, 2025) – In a thrilling turn of events at this week’s ISCO Championship, sponsor exemption recipient Marcus Byrd made headlines by earning his second career PGA TOUR cut and did so on his 28th birthday.

Byrd, a 2020 Middle Tennessee State University graduate from the Washington, D.C. area, has been navigating golf’s competitive landscape with dogged determination. After battling through difficult life challenges and fueled by the memory of his late father, he earned an exemption into this week’s field and has made the most of the opportunity.

On this special day, the pressure was palpable. Surrounded by friends and family, Byrd faced a critical moment on the 18th hole. With making the putt on the line, he calmly drained a 7-foot putt to save par, securing his place in weekend play.

“Making the cut on my birthday, this definitely ranks up there,” Byrd said with a grin. “To do it in front of my loved ones makes it even more special.”

A product of the APGA Tour, where he captured multiple victories, including titles at Torrey Pines in 2023 and Valhalla Golf Club, shooting a 67 in the final round. Byrd’s story is one of relentless drive and rising promise.

Since turning professional in 2020, he has turned personal hardship into professional momentum, honoring his father’s belief that he would one day reach the PGA TOUR.

“Marcus Byrd is exactly the kind of player we love to spotlight through a sponsor exemption,” said Jimmy Kirchdorfer, CEO of ISCO Industries. “He’s talented, hardworking, and incredibly inspiring. We were cheering for him all week, and to see him make the cut on his birthday, in front of family, was truly a magical moment at the ISCO Championship.”

Known for its bourbon, basketball, and hospitality, Kentucky is fast becoming a major player in professional golf. The arrival of the ISCO Championship at Hurstbourne Country Club only amplifies that momentum, blending top-tier athletic competition with the sights, sounds, and spirit of the Bluegrass. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or simply want to be part of a can’t-miss summer event, the ISCO Championship delivers elite play, unforgettable moments, and a celebration of all things Kentucky.

“This is what the ISCO Championship is all about, creating opportunities and celebrating the human side of the sport,” said T.R. Hollis, Tournament Director. “Marcus earned his spot here and watching him step up under pressure on 18 was incredible. We’re excited to see what the weekend brings.”

Byrd is on the course now, playing with confidence and momentum. Fans and fellow players alike will be watching closely as he continues his journey on one of golf’s biggest stages. Tickets and full event details are available now at iscochampionship.com.
